Results after the first project year
For the revision of the teaching programs the Study Curricula Commission (SCC) was established with Subject Working Groups (SWG) to revise and develop the new Bachelor and Master programs according to the BOKU principles.
The SCC is chaired by Prof. Hans-Peter Kaul (BOKU) and Prof. Ardian Maci (AUT).

Organization structure for developing the Bachelor and Master Programs
Revised Bachelor Programs
The 29 Bachelor Programs of AUT were revised and this has resulted in 9 new Bachelor programs which are running since 1. October 2025. The reform showed a 20 % increase in student registrations for the following new Bachelor programs:
- Agricultural Sciences & Food Security
- Environmental & Water Engineering
- Forest Engineering
- Interior Design & Wood Engineering
- Food Technology
- Food & Nutrition Sciences
- Economics
- Business Management
- Information Technology in Agriculture & Environment
Each program integrates interdisciplinary content based on the three-pilar approach according to the BOKU study programs, practical training, and alignment with labor market needs.
Three Bachelor programs are under revision:
- Landscape Architecture
- Finance & Accounting
- Business Informatics
Master Programs
The 42 Master of Science and Professional Master programs are under revision. The plan is to have 17 to 18 revised Master Programs by February 2026 which are in place by October 2026.
Veterinary Education
AUT has the only Veterinary education in Albania. A key milestone of the reform is the preparation for an EAEVE accreditation (European Association for the Establishment of Veterinary Education). Under the guidance of Prof. Petra Winter—former Rector of VetMed Vienna and President of EAEVE—the faculty is working towards meeting European veterinary education standards.
An EAEVE accreditation requires a standardized educational scheme. The faculty members have provided a 100-page report covering the current situation and a road map for adopting the education in meeting the required standards. With 1st of October 2026, the first two years of the Veterinary education in line with the EAEVE guidelines should be finished.

Strengthening Scientific Capacity
To support AUT’s growing research ambitions, a Research Group was established under the leadership of Prof. Spase Shumka and Prof. Hans Sölkner. The group focuses on advancing AUT’s scientific profile, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and developing competitive research proposals. It plays a key role in connecting AUT’s academic expertise with national and international research agendas.
PhD Program
Under revision. Three PhD programs covering (i) Natural Sciences (ii) Social Sciences, and (iii) Veterinary Sciences are planned. The programs should start with October 2026.
Administration
After a careful review and a workshop with leading administrators of AUT, a new book-keeping system along with the resulting reorganization of the responsibilities will be implemented. The necessary preparatory steps are currently at its final stage.
